LONDON TRAVEL GUIDE

RUSSELL SQUARE

In any but the summer months, you needn't hesitate in your search for a moderately-priced London hotel. Head immediately for the nearest "tube" station (the subway), and take the first train you see to the Russell Square stop. Russell Square, a lovely little park, forms the heart of a district of budget hotels, all of them incredibly well-located within walking distance of the theatre section, the Soho area, the University of London and the British Museum. While the hotels here are somewhat higher-priced than those we'll recommend in other sections of London, they provide amazing value for the extra shilling-or-so they'll charge. Keep in mind, however, that theyare almost always jammed in June, July and August, when you'd do best to try one of the other hotel areas, or else phone first to determine whether vacancies exist.
