LONDON TRAVEL GUIDE
MADAME TUSSAUD'S
And next, to see frighteningly-lifelike wax statues of the men whose lives are reflected in the British Museum, go to the celebrated waxworks of Madame Tussaud (on Marylebone Road, near the Baker Street tube station), where figures of the world's most famous personages, past and present (they have Lyndon Johnson, John Glenn, Harry Truman, too) are grouped into amusing and fascinating tableaux-all so real that when you stare into the face of Anthony Eden or Winston Churchill, you'll think that he's staring back and about to open his mouth! All quite eerie, not to be missed, and the walk up Buckingham Palace Road towards the RO.A.C. Air Terminal; you'll soon see the departure point for the bright-red, doubledecker buses. They leave every day of the week at 11, 12, 2, 3, 4 and 5 p.m., pass by every major London sight, and sometimes (but not always) provide a running commentary-all for approximately one-fourth of what you'd pay to a commercial tour company. An incomparable way to see the city, which should be one of your first activities in London.
